If you have royal merchant, the laboratory isn't worth much other than blueprints to craft, but if you want to make your heros great you'd just buy the items from market instead of crafting anyways.

The best I’ve come up with is to allow players to disable this for all items of a particular level once they’ve unlocked a recipe 3 levels higher. So if you have tier 4 recipes unlocked you can now turn off exceptional craft notifications for level 1 items. So players crafting level 9 could turn them off all the way up to level 6.

Just an FYI. You only gain merchant XP by selling items in your shop. One of the best ways to gain XP is with a Polonia Team (Polonia with 3 Tricksters). From merchant level 30 to 60, my Polonia Team was a big contributor in bringing in the goods to sell in my shop. You may want to check spreadsheet or official website.
